The Rissani market is another attraction here. And we from Kam Kam Dunes arrange a visit to that market. So, you can join the tour if you are eager to explore the place. The visit includes a 4wd car transfer and a guide at Rissani and Erfoud. We include lunch in a pizza restaurant in Erfoud or in Rissani in a to try the wood-fired madfouna (Berber calzone).

Rissani stands at the last visible point of the Oued Ziz; beyond it, steadily encroaching on the present town and its ancient ksour ruins, begins the desert. From the eighth to the fourteenth centuries. Rissani served for centuries as the last stop on the great caravan. 

It’s a quiet town, coming to life only for its famous souk market (Tues, Thurs & Sun), which can often turn up a fine selection of Berber jewelry, including the crude, almost iconographic designs of the desert. 

Erfoud lies in the heart of Morocco’s fossil beds. Erfoud makes a pleasant pit stop on the journey being able to see fossils dating back hundreds of millions of years and the photogenic ancient Ksar M’Aadid, 5km north of town.

The souk at the southern end of Erfoud sells local dates and fresh products. You should have good bargaining skills to buy something in this market. All the sellers are very persuasive and they will make you buy something definitely. So, learn to say NO if you do not intend to buy anything.

However, Morocco has a rich culture and if you want to buy something from the market, get the stuff that carries their ancient culture.

You will get a chance for cooking yourself or you can have your meal with our menu which is set by our main chef. But please note that Kam Kam Dunes is far from the city. So, getting the necessary things will be difficult here. And, we recommend you to bring your necessaries with you and enjoy the picnic in desert with your friends and family. You can enjoy an hour of riding through the golden dunes of the Erg Chebbi aboard your buggy or Quad. This is one of the best ways to have your first contact with driving in dunes. You will feel the adrenaline rushing through your body the whole time. This experience is so intense that you’ll be compelled to repeat again & again. A buggy ride, therefore, is a must-try part for any time you come to Sahara.

ATV or Buggy ride can be incorporated within your plan if you are staying a minimum of two nights. When you take any day excursion like “Tour of dunes” or “Visit de nomads” quad/buggy can be added after lunch on that day. It starts from about one hour after launch and lasts accordingly. Like all other tours, you’ll get an experienced guide here. Besides, you will get a set of goggles and necessary gear.

P.S. – This activity is not possible on the shared tour of 2 nights 3 days.

By trekking in the Erg Chebbi desert you not only get to see so much more than in other tours but also you will truly see and feel what the desert is all about. Not only how vast, beautiful and diverse it is – but it will also challenge you in one way or another. Last but not least it will give you plenty of ‘me time’ to organise your thoughts, meditate and focus on yourself.

You can do this trek if you already have experience in treks before. If it is your first trek you will need to be a little bit fit, For example you can do it if you go to the gym or spinning / cycling twice per week or if you are fit enough to run a 5K or 10K race.

The trek starts at 8:00 at Kam Kam Dunes and you will walk with one local guide. It’s important to avoid hiking when the sun is very high since can we extremelly hot. You will be required to bring hiking boots, water, sun cream, and hat.

If you want a fully adventure and do it alone at your own risk it will still have the same price but we can provide you the GPS track and few navigation tips. You will need to do an induction session via an online meeting with our team prior to book the activity.

This trek is challenging but affordable to do, If you are looking for a longer treks or hikes at the Merzouga Desert please do contact us and we can orginse you a longer multiday trek or walking for all the different levels.

Camel Excursion is around 1 hour. The camel time will be around 15-20 minutes to an hour. The time is not fixed because we have some guests that only want a short trip because the camel is not much comfortable and some others that want to spend as much time as possible in the dromedary.

Please inform your camel guide how much do you want the trip and if you want to extend it or not. 

Usually, our camel guide when finishing the trip will show you different souvenirs handmade done for his family. Instead of a tip maybe is better to buy him some of them so remember to bring a bit of pocket money. In all cases, it is not compulsory to buy or give a tip.

This day-long trek starts from 8 am after breakfast from Kam Kam Dunes. It will take around 5 hours to reach the village named Hassilabad. There you can have a local lunch or whatever you want in a local restaurant. You can order drinks or have some tea, and enjoy the swimming pool. After this lunch break, you will be taken to Kam Kam dunes via our transport 4WD car.

If you want to enjoy the camel excursion privately, you have to inform us, so that we can arrange it according to your choice. You can also enjoy a short camel hiking in Kam Kam dunes, and enjoy the 1-hour short tour of the camel sunset.

We can provide you with sandboards which are available in two sizes. Your choice will depend on your weight. Also, please remember that it would be a 1 or 2 hours activity, and you can have two to three slopes at max. Because walking through the high dunes is so exhausting as you may not be accustomed to the harsh weather. But don’t worry. We can assure you that you will have a great time there.
